Trump and China clash over North Korea
President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have exchanged threats about each other in a diplomatic dispute that threatens to derail U.S.-China ties.
The two leaders have agreed to exchange intelligence on North Korea and the U.N. Security Council is set to vote Tuesday on a resolution condemning the North’s nuclear tests.
Trump has called the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a “bad actor” and a “capable killer” and Xi has called him “a killer.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The U.K. also announced Monday that it was sending its own mission to the U!
on Monday to help with negotiations.
The Trump administration also said Monday it was canceling a planned meeting between Trump and Kim that was planned for Thursday in Japan.
Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in a statement that she was cancelling the planned meeting after it was revealed the meeting was being rescheduled.
She said it was not clear if the meeting would be reschedulated.
